Although the last couple months have been sporadic at best, I’m still here and blogging at The Daily Headache. Next week will feature favorite classic posts and* I’ll pick back up in the new year. As you know, my migraines have been terrible lately. Working on the computer has been particularly unappealing. Things aren’t great yet, but I do think I’m on an upswing. In fact, I’m working on some exciting blog additions and a redesign that will debut in the next few months.

Whenever you’re well enough to start blogging again, you know you’ve got readers waiting. I hope you have a good, warm break in Phoenix. I’m in Vancouver, so I know how wonderful it can be to get out of the West Coast rain at this time of year.

Kerrie – I wish you a New Year filled with health and joy. You give so much to your readers. May some of that return to you in the form of freedom from the things that constrain you.
I’m a newbie here. If my comments are “old news” I apologize, however, I have recently come across some things that have really helped me with the migraines. I have suffered from migraines for years. My doctor put me on Toprol (one year ago) and I have noticed a significant decrease in the migraine attacks. I have also been tested for Vitamin D levels and have been found to have undetectable levels of Vit D in my system. If you have read about Vit D, you know that people with low levels experience pain on a much greater level which makes a migraine even worse (if that’s possible). It takes months to get your Vit D level up with supplements but at least it’s a hope!
I hope this helps someone. The pain of a migraine is beyond any pain I have ever suffered! I recommend if you can to contact an Endocrinologist and Neurologist to cover all your bases.

I want to wish you a Happy Holiday. I visit your blog daily and it has been a lifeline for me, a fellow chronic migraine sufferer. Your perserverance and positive attitude has been inspiring. I hope your New Year brings you much needed headache relief.
Kerrie, so sorry but not surprised to hear that the relief you found from neck/shoulder massage was temporary. I have been there too. Sometimes it seems like whatever causes the migraine also causes the neck/shoulder pain. I did two rounds with a physical therapist a couple years ago and he did myofascial release on my neck and shoulder and it was great while I was seeing him, but after my sessions ended, the headaches returned. The neck and shoulder inflammation is one of the first signs I have of an impending attack.
What was more enduring were the excercises he taught me. They strengthened the muscles around the areas that were tight and I find that I use those tired muscles less now. I also have to make myself take breaks more often when working on the computer. Sometimes a headache will go away (if it had just started) if I just get up and move around some.
My therapist is local to you…Kirkland Physical Therapy. My neurologist sends all of his patients with neck pain/headache there.
Anyway, I hope you feel better soon.
