Several people have asked me what the wraparound FL-41 glasses that Hart and I are making look like, so here is a picture of them on on yours truly. One of the comments I’ve heard frequently (and so did testers) is people like that they can see my eyes when we talk, unlike when I wore sunglasses all the time. So I feel less cut off from the world, too.
Upon arrival from Italy, the frames were held up in customs for a few days. After they were finally delivered at noon on Friday, Hart took them straight to the optical lab that makes the precision-tinted lenses. We hope they will be ready sometime this week. The website and shop will be up and running as soon as they are!

Hello! Thank you for sharing your experience! I am autistic, so my chronic migraines are tied to sensory sensitivities which include light sensitivity, but also extend to my other senses as well. Still, reading about your journey has given me some great tips for how to manage the peripheral experiences that come with being chronically out of sorts.
I’m curious to know which tint of Theraspecs you are wearing in the photo above, and which one you wear currently (if it has changed since this was written in 2012).
I am trying to decide between the normal and extra dark indoor tints (the latter of which looks like the pair you have on in the photo) and have not had many opportunities to test both in real world conditions due to the pandemic. I really love the extra dark tint, but have found that I have a bit of trouble seeing in low light with them on. I was also worried that people might not be able to see my eyes as well and find it off putting, but if you are wearing the extra dark tint level in the photo, it seems like they’re not quite as closed in as I thought! The normal tint allows me to see in a broader range of lighting conditions, but I find that it lets in too much light to be as comfortable as the darker tint. It would be helpful to learn more about what you’ve found the most helpful as you’ve had a front row view of the innovation and iteration process for Theraspecs.
Also, do you have any plans to make more tint levels available? A half-step between the regular indoor and extra dark indoor tints would be perfect. One of the kind customer service representatives told me that it wasn’t possible to make, but I’m hopeful that it will exist at some point in the future.

I wear the standard indoor tint of 50%. I wear the extra-dark only when I’m using someone else’s monitor at work and can’t control the settings. Otherwise, the standard tint is perfect for me.
If your frame manufacturer has a clip-on option for your frame, we could tint the clip-on to 20%. You would then have a total tint of 60% that you can easily reduce to 50% if you need more light.
I’ll mention to the team that you’re interested in an in-between tint. We keep track of customer feedback and consider it when making decisions about future offerings.

These frames aren’t available in prescription — the wrap lenses cause distortions with prescription lenses — but we’re working on alternatives for people who wear prescription glasses.
