Out of Hibernation

Jackie, a migraineur who blogs at Life in the Canadian Desert, wrote this week about emerging from hermithood. Since I to withdraw from the world when my pain gets me down (and this happens a lot!), her post struck a chord. Once you’ve gotten into the habit of staying within a self-created comfortable space, it’s hard to leave. I admire Jackie’s willingness to jump right in and see how it goes.

  1. Dear Kerrie,

Jackie’s post hit a note with me too. I don’t make New Year’s resolutions either but I actually made one this year and it’t for me not to isolate myself so much from the world.

I am terrible about that, when I am feeling bad, which is alot of the time I tend to take up residence in my bedroom and half the time I don’t even answer the phone.

I am impressed and awed by Jackie’s ability to jump right out into the real world, she is a brave lady!

    Have a good day!

Best of luck with your resolution. My thoughts are with you. Let me know how it goes!

  2. Jackie, I agree. This was a good post. I can hermitize sometimes, too. Luckily, I have some things that force me out of the house.

I’m so impressed by all you do, Erin.

  3. Kerrie,
I’m honored that my post touched you! It’s hard to get out isn’t it? And I have to admit, when I was in the depth of my migraines and doctors kept telling me to “get out and do stuff” I wanted to slap them!

I’ve finally decided that there might be something to the “get out of the house” theory, and I’m giving it my best.

I hope you find something that you are able to get out and do too!

You’ve definitely inspired me. I am committed to at least one yoga class a week. Now I need to follow through on plans to call my friends (I’m terrible at that!). I’m so worried about losing my balance…
